Jim Griggy
Jim Griggy is a Certified Business Advisor for the Small Business Development Center at the Summit Medina Business Alliance. Griggy is certified as a business advisor through the state of Ohio. Jim’s background lends itself to supporting SBDC clients with accounting and finance, franchising, business planning, strategic planning, marketing and other business areas.
Before joining the Summit Medina Business Alliance, Mr. Griggy was employed by SRA International, the franchisor of Sanford Rose Associates executive recruiting offices. His last position with SRA was director of finance where he was in charge of accounting, finance, franchisee compliance, risk management and intellectual property. Jim’s duties also involved formal training presentations and one-on-one business counseling with franchisees. He was instrumental in developing a program to help new franchise owners complete all of their administrative and business set-up issues efficiently.
Prior to his role in finance, Mr. Griggy was responsible for all aspects of information technology for SRA International and several other companies under the same ownership. In this capacity, he developed software for franchisees to manage their candidate, client and search data and provided training on that software. He was also database administrator for a database of over 250,000 recruited candidates. Prior to that, Jim managed a team of recruiters and helped coordinate specialized job fairs for high tech industries.
During his college years, Jim was a personal computer trainer and consultant for small business applications.
Mr. Griggy holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management with a concentration in Personnel, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in French, all from the University of Akron. Jim has also completed some graduate coursework in Labor Economics and French. Griggy is certified in Ohio SBDC Integrated Quality Assessment (IQa), and Growth Wheel training for use with start-up and existing small businesses.
Jim served as a volunteer consumer arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau for 15 years where he arbitrated disputes arising from automotive purchases and home remodeling projects. Served on Board of Examiners for the 2011 cycle of Ohio Partnership for Excellence, was selected to participate in examiner team leadership training fort the program.
